Edjet Account

Connect your custom domain

Any Edjet cloud product can be available on you own domain. So instead of using default "yourcompany.netventic.net" address, it will be available on the "elearning.yourcompany.com" address.

This applies to the following products:

  • Edjet Training Cloud
  • Edjet LMS Cloud

To connect a domain to your Edjet Training Server or Edjet LMS Server, please contact your IT department or administrator responsible for the product operation.

Before you begin

First, you must have registered your own domain and be able to change DNS records.

To connect your domain, you need to:

  • Add a CNAME record to your domain in your domain management panel.
  • Connect a custom domain to your Edjet product using Edjet Account.

Add a CNAME record to your domain

This steps must be performed by the owner or technical administrator of your domain.

The exact procedure varies from one domain administrator/registrar to another.

In general:

  1. Log in to your domain management panel.
  2. Find the domain intended for the Edjet product.
  3. Optional: Create a subdomain intended for the Edjet product.
  4. Create a new DNS record of type CNAME with a value of address of your Edjet product and a period at the end.
    Example: CNAME yourcompany.netventic.net.

The CNAME record must sometimes be entered with a period at the end (correct notation), but can sometimes be entered without a period. This should be checked with your domain administrator and/or registrar.

Connect a custom domain to your Edjet product

  2. Click Products in the menu.
  3. Find the product and click info Show.

Notes and limitations

  • Only one custom domain can be attached to a product.
  • You can request the change of the custom domain once a day.
  • DNS record changes can take up to 48 hours to take full effect, depending on the TTL (Time To Live) value of your domain.

Switching a custom domain from one product to another

If you already have your domain, for example elearning.yourcompany.com, connected to the product "old.netventic.net", and you want to switch it to the new instance "new.netventic.net", proceed as follows:

  1. Activate the new product "new.netventic.net".
  2. Change the CNAME of your own domain from "old.netventic.net" to "new.netventic.net".
  3. Wait until the DNS change to take effect. During this time the instance "old.netventic.net" is still accessible online.
  4. Stop product "old.netventic.net".
  5. Connect your own domain to the "new.netventic.net" instance – the change will take effect immediately.
