Manage uploads

You can organize your files uploaded to Edjet LMS using folders.

Best practice

The way you organize the files is completely up top you and your team. It depends on many things, for example how many content creators work on course content, what content type do you use and many more.

Common recommendations:

  • Pay attention to file names - make them meaningful and web-safe before you use them to avoid renames.
  • Every course has it's own dedicated folder with all it's files.
  • Do not share files between multiple courses or users - use multiple copies of the file.
  • When renaming the file or folder, make sure you are able to update all references (links) to it.
  • When editing image using in-build editor, always save the new version as a new file.

Create a folder

To create a new folder:

  1. Sign in to Edjet LMS admin.
  2. In the menu click cloud_upload Media Library.
  3. Navigate to folder where you want to create your new folder.
  4. In the toolbar click create_new_folder New folder.
  5. Enter folder Name.
  6. Click OK.

Rename a file or folder

Important: Renaming file or folder in the Media Library will change the path to the file. If the file (an image for example) is used anywhere in the visual editor, the link to file will broke and need to be updated.

If you rename the folder:

  • All the sub-folders and files within the folder will change the path too.

To rename uploaded file or folder:

  1. Sign in to Edjet LMS admin.
  2. In the menu click cloud_upload Media Library.
  3. Find a file or folder, hover the mouse over it and click rename icon flip.
  4. Enter new folder Name.
  5. Click OK.

Move file or folder

Important: Moving file or folder in the Media Library will change the path to the file. If the file (an image for example) is used anywhere in the visual editor, the link to file will broke and need to be updated.

If you move the folder:

  • All the sub-folders and files within the folder will be moved too.

To move file/s or folder/s around:

  1. Sign in to Edjet LMS admin.
  2. In the menu click cloud_upload Media Library.
  3. Find a files/s or folder/s and select it using checkbox.
  4. In the toolbar click forward Move.
  5. Select target folder.
  6. Click OK.

Delete file or folder

Important: File deletion cannot be undone! If the file (an image for example) was used anywhere in the visual editor, the link to file will broken.

If you delete the folder:

  • Folders are deleted including all the sub-folders and files within the folder.

To delete single file or folder:

  1. Sign in to Edjet LMS admin.
  2. In the menu click cloud_upload Media Library.
  3. Find the file or folder, hover the mouse over it and click delete icon delete.
  4. Confirm deletion click OK.

To delete many files and folders at once:

  1. Find a files and folders and select it using checkbox.
  2. In the toolbar click delete icon delete in the row.
  3. Confirm deletion by clicking OK.

Download a file

To download a file to your computer:

  1. Sign in to Edjet LMS admin.
  2. In the menu click cloud_upload Media Library.
  3. Find the file and select it using checkbox.
  4. In the toolbar click cloud_download Download.

Troubleshooting

  • Folder not created or renamed – check name of the folder to match allowed chars only: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, _ , - and .
  • Folder not created or moved – check permissions on folder you want to move and on target folder.
